VAWA Fundamentals

This course provides a practical overview of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) as it applies to HUD-assisted housing, with a focus on the 2005, 2013, and 2022 reauthorizations and their impact on PHAs and multifamily owners. Participants will review key definitions (including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, economic abuse, and technological abuse), covered housing programs, and eligibility for VAWA protections for applicants, tenants, and affiliated individuals.
